The Professional Staff
The staff of the MGH Weight Center includes dedicated professionals specializing in internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, psychiatry, psychology, nutrition, and exercise physiology. Also affiliated with the Center are MGH physicians specializing in each of the diseases that commonly affect overweight patients. These professionals include specialists in diabetes, endocrine disorders, lung disease, heart and vascular disease, arthritis, orthopedic surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, infertility, intestinal and liver disease, and cancer. Each of these specialists has particular expertise in the care of overweight and obese patients. The MGH Weight Center includes several mental health professionals who are focused on the psychosocial factors that cause and complicate weight disorders. Everyone involved with the MGH Weight Center, including professional, administrative and support staff, is sensitive to the special needs of overweight and obese patients.
In addition to these clinicians, the professional staff of the MGH Weight Center includes distinguished scientists working to define both causes and new treatments for weight disorders. Participation in the MGH Weight Center's clinical programs therefore provides our patients with access to new research advances as they occur. All physicians and scientists in the MGH Weight Center are members of the Harvard Medical School faculty.
