Charges and Program FeesVisits with Physicians and Psychologists
At the Weight Center, we make every effort to make the care as affordable as possible. One-to-one outpatient visits (i.e. where you are meeting with only a Weight Center clinician and no other patients) with Weight Center psychologist, obesity medicine specialist, or surgeon are billed to nearly all insurances through the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization.Individual Visits with Dietitians
One-to-one outpatient visits with the Weight Center dietitian can be billed to the following insurances:
For other insurance, the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization is usually not able to bill the insurance. If you are insured by one of these other plans we will ask you to acknowledge this limitation and your potential financial responsibility for the fees for dietitian visits on a form to be signed at the beginning of each visit.
- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (and Blue Shield plans based in other states)
- Harvard Pilgrim Health Care
- Medicare (for patients with diabetes or a kidney disease only)
- Mass Health
- Neighborhood Health Plans
- Tufts Health Plans
- United Health Plans
Visits with a Dietitian in a Group Setting
Patients for whom a program where a dietitian presents in a group setting is recommended, there are additional fees. These programs include both surgery-related groups and nutrition based learning groups. They are educational in nature and are not covered by any insurance.
